YaKenda McGahee is an eight-time Emmy nominated and Emmy award-winning former television reporter and current television host. Colleagues, viewers and listeners alike describe her as a woman with plenty of energy, charisma and unparalleled passion.

Now she’s sharing her enthusiasm and insights as host of MRIS TV’s Real Estate I.Q., drawing on the industry knowledge she accumulated while working as a real-estate investor and salesperson throughout Maryland.

After graduating from DePaul University in Chicago, YaKenda began her television reporting career at NBC, working for affiliates in Topeka, Kans., Raleigh, N.C. and Baltimore, Md., followed by a stint at WTTG, the Fox affiliate in Washington, D.C.  Next, YaKenda immersed herself in her other passion – dance – and became a member of the nationally acclaimed Kankouran West African Dance Company.

She continued her role in broadcast as a freelance television/radio/web host, anchor, news correspondent, producer, writer, commercial actor and voice-over artist. Washington, D.C. audiences also know her as the former host and moderator of The Daily Drum, a half-hour daily news and current affairs show on WHUR 96.3FM, and as a fill-in news personality for WHUR’s The Real DC Morning Show.

“Real estate is another huge passion for me, so I’m thrilled to host Real Estate I.Q.  We’ll be tapping into the wisdom and secrets of the top regional real estate experts. Got questions? Send them in!”
